Volunteering

When you give your time, you give someone a chance to belong.

Join our volunteer team and help build inclusive spaces that empower neurodivergent people to discover their strengths.

At The Neurodivergence Project, volunteers are the heartbeat of what we do. From helping participants find confidence on our programmes to supporting awareness events or offering skills behind the scenes, every role makes a genuine difference. Whether you can give a few days a year or regular time, we’d love to have you onboard.

Who Can Volunteer

We welcome volunteers aged 18 and over from all backgrounds. Many of our team are neurodivergent or have family experience of neurodivergence – creating an inclusive crew that truly reflects the people we support.

We aim to make volunteering accessible and will do our best to adjust roles to suit individual needs. There are lots of ways to get involved – from one-off events to regular roles or remote support – so you can give your time in the way that works best for you.

Whether you’re a professional such as a teacher or counsellor, a guardian, a student, or a sailor, there’s a place for you here.

On the Water

On the Water

There’s something special about stepping aboard – the fresh air, the teamwork, the adventure. Our sailing programmes give neurodivergent participants the chance to learn new skills and grow in confidence. As a volunteer, you’ll be beside them – helping with ropes, encouraging at the helm, or sharing laughter after a day at sea. No sailing background is needed, just empathy and patience.

On Land

On Land

Not every adventure happens on the water. Volunteers help in harbours, towns, and communities across the UK – welcoming guests, supporting fundraising, or joining our Around Britain for Neurodiversity campaign. Each role sparks conversations, builds connections, and shows that neurodivergent voices matter.

Behind the Scenes

Behind the Scenes

Much of our work happens quietly, out of sight. Volunteers in communications, design, admin, photography, tech, or social media keep things running and help us reach more people. Every contribution makes a difference – ensuring neurodivergent individuals find support and connection.

What We Provide

We want every volunteer to feel supported, prepared, and valued. Some of what we offer is already in place, while other elements are still being developed – but every step is designed to help you feel confident in your role.

Champion with Us

Every person has something powerful to offer – a skill, a story, a platform, or simply a belief in making the world more understanding.

We’re looking for people who want to stand beside our mission and help build a future where neurodivergent people are heard, seen, and valued. You might be on the water sailing, on the track racing, on the stage performing, or leading change in business or community. Whatever your world looks like, you can help shape something meaningful.

Championing our work could mean sharing our message, supporting events, connecting networks, or inspiring others through your lived experience. No titles needed – just authenticity and heart.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
